beFRieNDeRS

We currently have 31 active befrienders on our books and are always looking for more ‘recruits’.

Our befrienders are rostered over a weekend as follows:
Friday 6pm - Saturday 9am, Saturday 9am - 6pm, Saturday 6pm - Sunday 9am, Sunday 9am - 6pm and (subject to availability) Sunday 6pm - Monday 9am

Our befrienders are not counsellors. They are there in the house to lend an ear if the client needs to talk, and also there to help cook, and lie on the couch. We also have some befrienders who are good at playing Uno and Air Hockey.

We have both male and female befrienders who all volunteer their time to spend in the House. We have a huge range of ages for befrienders from 18 through to 66, all of whom are there to offer support to young people who are at risk.

Our befrienders never make judgments and will always keep the confidentiality of the client. All our befrienders are police checked and have a panic alarm to protect themselves and the client should the need arise.

If you are keen to become involved in being a befriender please send us your contact details and we can let you know when we are running our next course.

Furfrienders are also welcome into the House. Our 4 legged volunteers enjoy snuggling with clients, playing ball in the yard or having their belly rubbed. Not all clients like animals, so we always check before bringing them in. Furfrienders provide unconditional love and support to clients.
